What is the Zero Drownings Miami-Dade Initiative?
The Zero Drownings Miami-Dade Initiative is an innovative, multicomponent, countywide drowning prevention program that leverages key community partnerships to improve water safety for children and families in Miami-Dade. Program components include developing, operating, and funding a long-term, large-scale safety net for children by coordinating and providing essential swim safety lessons during the program day. The initiative also includes a family engagement and education component focused on water safety for parents and guardians of enrolled children, as well as a community-wide campaign to raise awareness about the importance of drowning prevention.
